Research Description:
Generally, I am fascinated by the role of the immune system and inflammation in CNS diseases. Specifically, my interests are in involvement of the immune system and the mechanisms of how inflammatory cells contribute to neuroinflammation following ischemic stroke. Both clinical and preclinical studies suggest the importance of inflammation in acute and long-term neuronal tissue damage following stroke. However, there are currently no available treatments targeting the acute immune response that develops during cerebral ischemia. My work in Dr. Zsuzsanna Fabry’s lab will focus on bridging the gap in the field of neuroinflammation in stroke, potentially leading to novel adjunct therapy.
