Research Description:
My research interests include the field of CNS repair after stroke and trauma, arthrosclerosis and predictors of cerebral ischemia. I have over 30 years of research relating to stroke, brain injury of stroke and precautions and repair. As co-Director of the Stroke Program at the UW I am involved with planning and the execution on many levels involving the pathophysiology of brain ischemia. I have been involved in basic science and clinical stroke research throughout my career including national studies of prevention, diagnosis, treatment and repair. This includes both hemorrhagic and ischemic stroke. I presently lead an investigator-initiated trial of the pathophysiology of embolic ischemic stroke and its effect on cognitive outcomes.
