Research Description:
The research in my lab focuses on developing and translating novel PET radiotracers and methods for the study of human development and neurodegeneration. This involves using PET methodologies to investigate neurochemical changes in the brain and studying novel radioligands to characterize neurotransmitter–protein interactions and how they are influenced by development, genes, environment and aging. These imaging methods are being applied to investigate the etiologies and mechanisms in Alzheimer’s Disease, Down syndrome, Alexander Disease, affective disorders, epilepsy, schizophrenia and fetal alcohol exposure.
Research Key Words:
PET methods, Neurodevelopment, Neurodegeneration, Neuropsychiatric Illness, Neurotransmitter-Protein Interactions
