Research Description:
The brain integrates multiple different sensory signals to create the perception of 3D motion in depth. I’m interested in how the brain extracts, weighs, and combines these signals to create an optimal motion percept. My research will take advantage of a prevalent agnosia discovered by the Rokers Vision Laboratory where a human subject is unable to discriminate approaching from receding stimuli in specific areas of the visual field. We hope to uncover the neural mechanisms responsible for this agnosia, and shed light on motion signal integration as a whole, by combining human data with electrophysiological recordings in animals from the Rosenberg Lab.
