Research Description:
My research investigates structure-function relationships in the KCNH family of voltage-gated potassium channels by using structural, biochemical and physiological approaches. Specifically, I use molecular biology and electrophysiological methods to study how the ether-à-go-go (EAG) member of the KCNH family controls membrane excitability. My thesis project aims to understand the mechanism by which binding of calmodulin to the EAG1 channel closes the channel pore.
