mechanisms of delirium-, inflammation- and anesthesia- impairments of consciousness and cognition
The Sanders laboratory is focused on improving patient outcomes through applied neuroscientific enquiry with three specific areas of interest: (1) understanding the pathogenesis, and impact, of the sudden confusional state of delirium in order to identify novel therapeutics, (2) understanding the mechanisms of anaesthesia to induce sensory disconnection and unconsciousness and (3) understanding how inflammation perturbs cognitive function.
