Mission and Membership
of Minority Affairs Committee

Mission:

The goal of the Minority Affairs Committee is to provide equal opportunity for minority students and faculty in neuroscience graduate education, and ultimately abolish the need for such a committee within the Neuroscience Training Program. The faculty affirms that inadequate representation of minority investigators in neuroscience hinders the worldwide neuroscience community from realizing its full potential. Thus, we intend to recruit outstanding minority students to our Program, help them obtain their doctorate degrees, and enable them to become independent investigators, teachers, or clinicians with a sound understanding of the nervous system. Furthermore, we intend to support and encourage the recruitment of minority faculty into our Program, and increase the awareness of students and faculty of minority issues.
